What are we looking for?
We are seeking a results-driven Quality Improvement Manager to lead our comprehensive clinical quality initiatives and measurement-based care programs across BetterHelp's global platform. This role will be instrumental in defining, measuring, and continuously improving the quality of care we deliver to millions of clients worldwide, while positioning BetterHelp as the clinical quality leader in the virtual mental health space.
As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will drive the development and implementation of sophisticated quality measurement frameworks, clinical outcome assessments, and evidence-based improvement initiatives. This includes expanding our measurement-based care capabilities and translating industry best practices into actionable strategies that enhance our clinical effectiveness and competitive positioning.
Reporting to the Director of Care Transformation, this role requires a quality-focused clinical mind with strong analytical capabilities who can collaborate effectively across our matrixed organization. You will work closely with clinical leadership, product, technology, data science, and business development teams to ensure BetterHelp continues to set the standard for measurable, high-quality virtual mental health care delivery.
What will you do?
Clinical Quality Measurement & Analytics
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive clinical quality measurement frameworks across all BetterHelp service lines and international markets
- Design and manage expansion of measurement-based care features, ensuring seamless integration of validated clinical outcome assessments into our platform
- Create detailed specifications for new clinical outcome measures, working with technology teams to implement user-friendly assessment tools that drive clinical insights
- Develop and maintain clinical quality dashboards and reporting systems that provide actionable insights to clinicians, leadership, and external partners
- Establish clinical benchmarks and performance indicators that align with industry best practices and regulatory standards
Quality Improvement Project Leadership
- Lead formal quality improvement initiatives using evidence-based methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles) to drive measurable improvements in clinical outcomes
- Conduct root cause analyses of quality gaps and develop targeted interventions to address systemic issues affecting care delivery
- Design and implement quality improvement pilot programs, measuring effectiveness and scaling successful interventions across the platform
- Collaborate with clinical teams to identify opportunities for care enhancement and develop structured improvement plans with clear metrics and timelines
- Facilitate quality improvement training and education for clinical staff and cross-functional team members
Competitive Intelligence in Quality
- Monitor and analyze industry trends in clinical quality, outcome measurement, and quality improvement methodologies within the mental health and broader healthcare sectors
- Conduct competitive intelligence research to understand how BetterHelp's quality performance compares to industry standards and key competitors
- Translate market insights and emerging best practices into actionable recommendations for improving BetterHelp's clinical services and quality positioning
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategic Support

- Partner with product management and engineering teams to ensure quality measurement capabilities are integrated into platform development and enhancement initiatives
- Work closely with data science teams to develop predictive models for clinical outcomes and quality risk identification
- Collaborate with clinical leadership to align quality improvement initiatives with broader clinical strategy and care delivery goals
- Support marketing and communications teams in developing quality-focused messaging and thought leadership content
- Interface with compliance and regulatory affairs teams to ensure quality initiatives meet all applicable standards and requirements

Can I work remotely?
Yes. We operate on PST and candidates in any time zone are welcome to apply. We ask employees to travel to our San Jose, CA office up to three times per year plus one company-wide offsite to collaborate in person and strengthen working relationships. Travel expenses are covered and reasonable accommodations are made for those under unique circumstances who cannot travel.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral degree in psychology, clinical social work, public health, healthcare administration, or closely related field with clinical or healthcare quality experience
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in clinical quality improvement, healthcare analytics, or quality management with direct responsibility for measurement and improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated expertise in quality improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycles) with proven track record of leading successful improvement projects
- Strong analytical and statistical skills with experience in healthcare data analysis, outcome measurement, and performance indicator development
- Proficiency in data visualization tools and presentation software with ability to create compelling, data-driven presentations for executive and external audiences
- Experience working in regulated healthcare environments with understanding of quality standards, accreditation requirements, and compliance frameworks
- Excellent project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple quality improvement projects simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical license in psychology, social work, or related mental health field with direct patient care experience
- Experience with measurement-based care implementation, clinical outcome assessments, or evidence-based practice evaluation
- Background in digital health platforms, virtual care delivery, or health technology quality assurance
- Knowledge of health plan quality requirements, HEDIS measures, or value-based care contracting models
- Experience with clinical research methodologies, outcome studies, or healthcare effectiveness research
- Familiarity with international healthcare quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Certification in quality improvement (CQI, CPHQ) or related professional credentials

The base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $150,000. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for the extensive benefits listed here (subject to eligibility requirements): Teladoc Health Benefits 2025. Total compensation is based on several factors – including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
