About Dispatch Wrecker Service

Dispatch Wrecker Service is a leader in the heavy-duty towing and roadside assistance industry. We're combining decades of operational expertise with modern software to reinvent a traditionally manual business. At the heart of this transformation is VERT, our proprietary logistics platform that streamlines dispatch, tracking, and billing across our ecosystem of clients and vendors.

The Opportunity

We’re hiring our first in-house tech leader—a Director of Technology—to take ownership of VERT and lead the next phase of our digital transformation. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical leadership and hands-on development experience, with the ability to scale both product and internal systems. This person will have a unique opportunity to shape the direction of a game-changing platform and potentially grow into a CTO role, with equity upside.

Key Responsibilities

Software Leadership (Primary Focus):

  • Own and drive the development and optimization of VERT, a proprietary dispatch and business management platform.

  • Lead product iterations, manage bug resolution, and oversee regular updates.

  • Manage third-party vendors and eventually build a small in-house dev team.

  • Support vendor onboarding and adoption—VERT is both an internal tool and a revenue-generating platform for partners.

  • Strategically expand the software based on feedback from vendors, dispatchers, and leadership.

IT & Infrastructure Oversight (Secondary Focus):

  • Manage and support company-wide IT needs, from internal tools to infrastructure support.

  • Oversee telecom relationships and ensure seamless integration of systems.

  • Provide technical input for evaluating and deploying business-critical software and tools.

Strategic & Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with management and ops teams to ensure the product aligns with operational realities and goals.

  • Modernize workflows and create scalable, efficient technology processes across the company.

  • Translate business needs into product features and tech strategy.

What You’ll Be Building: VERT

  • Real-time job tracking for roadside and towing operations.

  • Transparent communication between dispatch, drivers, vendors, and customers.

  • Rapid dispatching and job updates to improve service speed and reduce friction.

  • Streamlined billing and invoicing to accelerate cash flow.

  • Platform-as-a-Service potential for industry-wide adoption.

Qualifications

Who We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of software development or technical leadership experience.

  • Experience managing SaaS development cycles, working with vendors or remote teams.

  • Background in logistics, field services, or dispatch-related technologies is a major plus.

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (especially AWS).

  • Code-language agnostic: We care more about problem-solving and delivery than stack purity.

  • Comfortable handling IT oversight and infrastructure projects for a growing business.

  • Texas-based preferred, but open to remote candidates who are willing to travel to HQ periodically (quarterly or as needed).

Additional Information

Why This Role Is Unique

  • You’re not just maintaining a product—you’re leading its evolution.

  • VERT is already monetized, with adoption from vendor partners and room to scale.

  • Significant autonomy and room to grow into a CTO role.

  • Equity opportunity tied to product milestones and company growth.

  • A chance to bring modern tech into a traditionally underserved space.
