Position Overview
The Financial Accountant will play a key role in maintaining Parallel’s Accounting function: providing foundational support across core accounting functions. The ideal candidate has prior experience working in a high-growth or early-stage company and has a strong understanding of Finance and Accounting. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to take ownership of core accounting processes and grow with a mission-oriented company. A detailed understanding of all financial statements is a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end monthly close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries
- Ensure accurate and timely customer billing; support the development of a scalable and automated billing system
- Perform cash and bank account reconciliations to maintain accurate cash flow reporting
- Review and reconcile employee expense reports and corporate credit card transactions
- Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare internal accounting documentation in support of the company’s first external audit
- Support federal, state, and local tax filings and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Contribute to ad hoc financial reporting projects and internal analysis requests
- Identify, recommend, and help implement improvements to accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls
The Requirements
- Detailed understanding of Income statement, Balance sheet and Statement of Cash flow is a must
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2-4 years of Accounting or Finance experience
- Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks; familiarity with other softwares a plus
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Passion for Parallel’s mission
- Authorization to work in the United States is required
- Role is remote, but candidates interested in a hybrid setup in our NYC office is a plus
This role's annual base salary range is competitive, with the added advantage of equity options.
