Job Description

Location: France
Work mode: Hybrid, 3 days/week at Paris HQ

We’re looking for a FP&A Manager to take ownership of Opal’s day-to-day finance operations and support our strategic growth across Europe and the US.

You’ll report to the VP People and work closely with our CEO, external accountants, and key stakeholders across the company. This is a hands-on, high-impact position that requires strong operational rigor, analytical skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Why Opal?

  • Mission-Driven Impact: We are on a mission to help 1Bn people reclaim their time and focus. We’ve empowered our community to save 150M+ hours and counting.

  • Ownership & Flexibility – You’ll be the first dedicated FP&A hire, with direct impact on strategic decisions.

  • Collaborative Culture: Work with a small, high-impact team that gathers quarterly for meetups and learning. Nearly $1M in Revenue per Employee.

  • Growth & Recognition: Join a top-30 US productivity app with competitive compensation and early equity. 4.8/5 rating on 60k+ reviews.

  • Well-Supported: Backed by world-class investors and founders of companies like Pinterest, Snapchat, and Revolut.

Why This Role and Why Now?

We’re a 22-person team growing steadily across multiple entities (France, the US, and other European countries via an EOR) and preparing to scale further. This is our first in-house FP&A hire, so you’ll help shape the function from the ground up—with full visibility, autonomy, and a path to grow into a broader Finance leadership role as the company scales.

You’ll join a company with strong financials, clear product-market fit, and a mission to help people reclaim their time and focus every day.

This is a key moment:

  • We’re opening our first US office and hiring locally by the end of 2025

  • We run lean, transparent budgets and have bold ambitions

  • We need smart internal controls to support healthy, international growth

You’ll be working closely with the VP People and CEO to build robust, scalable systems across both our French and US entities.

What You’ll Be Doing

📊 Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Build and maintain financial models (budget, P&L, cash flow, reforecasts)

  • Analyze performance vs. budget and provide strategic insights

  • Prepare internal reports and investor materials

💸 Accounting & Administration

  • Support VP People in payroll preparations (Payfit in France, Remote.com for international hires)

  • Track equity activity via Carta and assist with related reporting and coordination

  • Manage invoicing, supplier payments, and employee expenses

  • Coordinate monthly close processes with our external accountants (France & US)

💼 Compliance & Legal

  • Ensure financial processes comply with French and US regulations

  • Handle tax filings (e.g., VAT, URSSAF) and prepare for audits

  • Support admin setup and financial readiness for our US office

📈 Strategic Finance Partner

  • Monitor financial KPIs and support cost optimization initiatives

  • Help design scalable, cross-border finance processes and internal controls

What We’re Looking For

  • 4–6 years of experience in finance, accounting, FP&A, or audit, including:

    • ~3-4 years auditing at a Big 4 or similar firm (Mazars, PwC, Deloitte, EY)

    • 1–2 years FP&A or finance operations experience in a B2C startup or scale-up

  • Strong financial modeling, reporting, and cash management skills

  • Solid understanding of French accounting standards (US GAAP is a plus)

  • Comfortable using tools like Qonto, Payfit, Brex, Notion, and Carta

  • Full professional fluency in French and English

  • Experience in a scale-up or international environment

  • Exposure to equity management tools like Carta is a bonus

  • Ambition to grow into a Head of Finance role

You’re also:

  • Analytical and detail-oriented

  • Proactive and comfortable building from scratch

  • A clear communicator who works well cross-functionally

  • Excited by the opportunity to shape a core function in a mission-driven company

If you’re ready to shape the future of focus, we’d love to meet you!
