Job Description

Shape the Future of AI & Data with Us

At Datatonic, we are Google Cloud's premier partner in AI, driving transformation for world-class businesses. We push the boundaries of technology with expertise in machine learning, data engineering, and analytics on Google Cloud Platform. By partnering with us, clients future-proof their operations, unlock actionable insights, and stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving world.

Your Mission

We are looking for an IT Systems Engineer to join our global team. You’ll report directly to our Head of IT and Security (based in Canada) and work closely with our IT Support Engineers in London and Zagreb.

We’re seeking someone who’s passionate about building reliable, scalable IT systems and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices, while also being comfortable handling day-to-day IT support when needed.

In this role, you’ll help design, implement, and manage our modern IT environment. You’ll automate processes, maintain our cloud tools and services, and support our team to ensure seamless, secure operations as we continue to grow.

If you enjoy working in cloud-first environments, love solving technical challenges through automation, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced setting—we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure and configurations using tools like Terraform or Pulumi.

  • Systems Management: Manage and optimize IT systems, including Google Workspace, Okta, Cloudflare, Kandji, SentinelOne, and macOS environments, as well as SaaS applications like Jira and Notion.

  • Automation & Efficiency: Identify opportunities to automate IT processes, improve workflows, and enhance security posture.

  • Support & Troubleshooting: Provide timely resolution for IT support requests, ensuring minimal disruption for colleagues.

  • Security & Compliance: Help enforce security best practices and support compliance initiatives such as ISO 27001.

  • Documentation & Training: Create and maintain clear documentation for systems, processes, and troubleshooting. Assist with user training to empower colleagues to solve basic technical issues independently.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proven experience in a similar IT role with emphasis on system administration and infrastructure management.

  • Hands-on experience administering Okta and Google Workspace.

  • Prior experience implementing and managing Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) solutions, ideally using Cloudflare.

  • Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Pulumi.

  • Working knowledge of Python and bash scripting for automation and systems tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Bonus points if you have

  • Apple Certification such as Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP) and or Apple Certified Mac Technician (ACMT)

  • ITIL, CSAM, CISA, and/or CISSP certifications

  • Strong knowledge of ISO 27001

  • Prior experience administering and supporting Apple MacOS in a MDM environment

What’s in It for You?

We believe in empowering our team to thrive, with benefits including:

  • 20 days of paid vacation per calendar year

  • Public Holidays for your Province of Residence

  • 5 Wellness days (sickness, personal time, mental health)

  • 5 Lifestyle days (religious events, volunteer day, sick day)

  • Matching Group Retirement Savings Plan after 3 months

  • Competitive Group Insurance plan on Day 1 - individual premium paid 100%!

  • Virtual Medicine and Family Assistance Program - 100% employer-paid!

  • Home office budget - We are 100% remote!

    • CAD $70/month for internet/phone expenses

    • CAD $1,500 every 3 years for tech accessories and office equipment (monitor, keyboard, mouse, desk, etc.) starting on Day 1

    • Company-supplied MacBook Pro or Air

  • CAD $400/year for books, relevant app subscriptions or an e-reader.

  • Opportunities for paid certifications

  • Opportunities for professional and personal learning through Udemy Business

  • Regular company off-sites and meetups
