Job Description

Nearly half of patients needing medical equipment at discharge don’t get it in time. The ordering process is too convoluted and is still primarily handled by fax. These inefficiencies lead to higher cost of care and poorer patient outcomes. In the most extreme cases, this equipment means life or death. At Parachute Health, it is our mission to make sure that every patient gets what they need, when they need it. We achieve this by driving efficiency through digital connectivity into every aspect of the ordering process, making it delightfully simple.

We’re leading the charge with a platform that is 10 times faster than the status quo. We connect with major hospitals, payors, and suppliers of life-saving products. Our vision of a “delightfully simple” digital ordering experience for clinicians pushes us forward to transforming the world of post-acute care.

We’ve built a strong network of clinicians, suppliers, health plans, and patients that we serve every day—but we’re ready to amplify our story in a bigger, more systematic way. That’s where you come in.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain production-grade Python applications, particularly around retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy AI features that improve user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Write well-tested, maintainable code using tools like FastAPI, LangChain, and LangSmith (or similar frameworks).
  • Develop and maintain golden datasets for regression testing and evaluation of LLM behaviors.
  • Design and implement automated testing strategies for LLM applications, including evaluation harnesses, edge-case detection, and prompt regression tools.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions, especially around model integration, orchestration, and performance.
  • Develop in an agile environment, including TDD and flexible pair programming.
  • Contribute to balanced teams, working with product and design to shape the application.
  • Consistently deliver quality code that supports business goals.
  • Understanding of data structures, TDD, and software engineering design patterns and principles.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring timely resolution of critical system issues, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our system reliability and availability.
  • Participate in full-stack development efforts, including Rails or React when needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience building web applications with Python.
  • 1 year of experience building or maintaining RAG or other AI-enhanced applications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in an agile, collaborative team.
  • Experience with automated evaluation and testing of LLM powered workflows.
  • Experience with LangSmith or similar tools for observability and evaluation.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering and prompt lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with LangGraph, AutoGen, or other agent orchestration frameworks.
  • Skill with AI powered coding tools (eg. Cursor).
  • Must reside in the U.S. East coast hours preferred.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to healthcare workflows or prior experience in health tech.
  • Prior professional experience working with Ruby on Rails.
  • Prior professional experience with React and Typescript.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, etc).
  • Staying up to date with emerging AI tools and driving their adoption within teams.
