đ¤Why This Role Matters?
Weâre looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers as both a hands-on technical mentor and strategic systems architect. This is a hybrid leadership role that blends deep engineering experience with an appetite for building high-functioning teams, developing technical strategy, and influencing the companyâs approach to data-driven innovation.
This is not just about managing engineers or sprint velocity. This role is about orchestrating momentum, unlocking autonomy, and driving predictabilityâall while contributing to the systems and architecture that fuel our AI-powered platform.
This role also marks the beginning of a new chapter for our engineering leadership team. You will be central to our transition from forming to stormingâbuilding a foundation of trust, decision-making speed, and collective ownership as we scale. Your success will create space for senior leaders to step out of the day-to-day, knowing that execution is both durable and accelerating.
⨠What will you be doing?
đ§ Lead Engineering Execution
Drive the full software development lifecycle for high-impact, roadmap-aligned features.
Translate complex product and system requirements into actionable, iterative engineering plans.
Actively contribute code and architectural guidance while shaping team-wide best practices.
Guide the team through ambiguity, shifting priorities, and new technical frontiers with calm and confidence.
đ Architect for Scale and Impact
Own backend and service-level architecture decisions, ensuring extensibility, resiliency, and clear boundaries.
Partner with our Data team and CTO to evolve our platform into a source of structured, high-quality data for AI model training, analysis, and operational intelligence.
Improve observability, testability, and system health through clear design patterns and modern infrastructure practices.
đ Operationalize Team Performance
Bring clarity and rhythm to team execution. Identify blockers early and work cross-functionally to resolve them.
Refine rituals (stand-ups, sprint planning, retros) to increase throughput while energizing the team.
Proactively communicate project status, risks, and outcomes, ensuring zero ambiguity across functions.
Help the team strike the right balance between heroic effort and long-term sustainability.
đ¤ Drive Strategic Collaboration
Serve as the engineering counterpart to Product and Data leadsâshaping roadmaps based on effort, feasibility, and strategic impact.
Work backwards from business goals to identify the technical systems and engineering investments that unlock scale.
Lead by influence across engineeringâsharing reusable patterns, unblocking peers, and improving predictability company-wide.
đą Grow and Mentor Engineers
Provide technical mentorship and career coaching that elevates individual performance and collective velocity.
Create space for autonomy while holding the bar high for clarity, accountability, and quality.
Model the behavior of a strong âfirst teamâ playerâprioritizing transparency, proactivity, and shared learning among fellow managers.
đŹWhat Youâll Bring
đĄ Deep Technical Leadership
10+ years of software engineering experience, including backend and full-stack systems.
5+ years in engineering management roles, preferably in high-growth SaaS or data-rich environments.
Experience leading teams that build reliable, secure, and scalable systems using Python, TypeScript, Next.js, and AWS. Or comparable stacks that you are more than eager to compare and contrast their pros and cons.
Comfort working across streaming and batch ETL systems, event queues (e.g. RabbitMQ, SQS), and data-centric infrastructure.
đ Systems-Level Thinking
Strong architectural instincts; able to identify when to refactor, rewrite, or stabilize.
Adept at managing trade-offs between speed and quality, complexity and flexibility.
Deep understanding of system design, CI/CD, API lifecycle management, and observability best practices.
đ§ Strategic Orientation
You think and plan beyond the current sprintâarchitecting technical foundations that align with 12â18 month business goals.
You can partner on company-level strategy, especially around data architecture, engineering org structure, and team predictability.
You actively identify opportunities to reduce risk, enhance velocity, or increase system clarity before they become urgent.
đŹ Communication and Influence
You lead with context. You share what you know early and often to reduce ambiguity and surface opportunities for alignment.
You workshop solutions asynchronously and synchronously with peers to drive clarity and create momentum.
Youâre confident presenting technical direction to stakeholders while remaining open to feedback and iteration.
What Success Looks Like
Your team is executing at a high levelâshipping with quality, urgency, and technical soundness.
Youâre the default decision-maker in your domain. Others rely on your judgment, not just your output.
You are appropriately âliving in the future,â identifying investments that ensure scale, sustainability, and alignment with company priorities.
The engineering team gets stronger because of your presence, technically, operationally, and culturally.
If youâre ready to help scale a high-trust engineering cultureâand build platforms that blend product quality with data intelligenceâweâd love to hear from you.
đ What do we offer?
High-ownership leadership role with meaningful influence across engineering and product.
Remote-first flexibility with a collaborative team culture.
