Realm is an AI-driven platform that helps industrial operations prevent failures before they happen, maximizing uptime and saving millions in lost revenue. Realm integrates with existing cameras, sensors, and control systems to detect and predict equipment failures, flag unsafe behavior, automate responses, and notify key personnel. Our customers include gold, gemstones, coal, and oil & gas operations across the United States, Africa, and Latin America.

What You’ll Do

  • Build React/TypeScript UIs and integrate them with REST/GraphQL APIs for our production, safety, and security platform

  • Develop Node.js services with PostgreSQL, write tests, and conduct code reviews

  • Deeply understand our product and users—translate real-world operational challenges into intuitive, high-impact features

  • Deploy technology at interesting industrial sites like underground mines

  • Work with our CEO, former CTO and cofounder of Blend ($1B public company), learning to build a world-class engineering organization

As an engineer at an early-stage startup, your responsibilities will vary from week to week as priorities evolve. In general, your technical work will consist of:

  • Backend (TypeScript) - 40%

  • Web front-end (React) - 40%

  • Mobile front-end (React Native) - 10%

  • Infrastructure and tools (Kubernetes) - 10%

What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in a professional software engineering role

  • Strong coding skills, problem-solving ability, and grasp of computer science fundamentals

  • Entrepreneurial work ethic, drive for excellence, and belief in meritocracy, personal responsibility, and hard work

  • Experience and comfort working on a remote team

  • Rapid delivery of high-quality work (use of AI to accelerate your work is encouraged)

  • Enthusiasm for building at all levels of the stack, from low-level infrastructure details to high-level product work

  • Great judgment and intuition about security, testing, code quality, and tech debt

  • Appreciation of functional programming, type safety, clean code, and automated testing

  • Mastery of core development/infrastructure/DevOps tools (Git, Linux)

  • US citizen or permanent resident, or Canadian citizen

  • Based in North America

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience working at a startup as an engineer, CTO, tech lead, or manager

  • Professional experience with our core development technologies (TypeScript, Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes)

  • Strong network of top-tier engineers
