About Sunbound
Company. Sunbound is building the “financial OS for senior care”. The current senior care payments experience is broken which increases costs and inefficiencies for senior living operators while making it confusing, cumbersome and stressful for families. Sunbound was created to solve this problem by building the first modern platform to handle this process end-to-end and save operators and families time, money and effort.
Mission. Our founders were inspired to start the business after seeing the pain points firsthand with their own families, and deeply care about helping one of the most overlooked groups in our population: seniors. Sunbound’s mission is to make managing money for senior living easy, so our customers can focus on what really matters: providing quality housing & care.
Team. We're a dedicated, close-knit group focused on expanding hubs in Downtown Brooklyn, NYC, and Washington, DC.
Traction. Since launching in mid-2023, we now serve thousands of families. We’re currently doing 7 figures in ARR.
Growth. Sunbound has absolutely caught fire as a business, growing 30% month-over-month. The senior living market is massive at >$230b and is expected to grow rapidly as the “baby boomer” generation continues to age.
Funding. We've raised now three rounds of funding from top-tier investors including Fika Ventures, Bling Capital, Liquid2 Ventures, LiveOak Bank, Cambrian Ventures and Max Ventures. These firms have collectively backed over 20 unicorns such as Square, Lyft and Rippling.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Ops Engineer with strong Python skills to join our team. This role will focus on improving day-to-day operations workflows, owning and maintaining the internal tooling backbone, and unblocking operational friction across our business.
You’ll be stepping into a role previously held by our CTO and co-founder, and you’ll play a critical part in supporting and scaling the infrastructure behind our products and services.
This is a high-impact, high-context role that combines software engineering, internal tooling, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Own and evolve our internal Python-based tooling platform used across engineering and ops.
Build and maintain operational automation scripts, developer tools, and workflow integrations.
Debug and resolve blocking operational issues across deployment pipelines, environments, and infrastructure.
Collaborate closely with the Ops team to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort through automation.
Partner with engineering teams to streamline internal processes like customer onboarding and support tooling.
Monitor and improve reliability of key internal systems and support services.
Occasionally serve as a point of escalation for high-priority operational incidents.
Skills and Qualifications
4+ years of experience in software engineering or operations roles, ideally in high-growth environments.
Strong Python skills. You’ve built and maintained internal tools, scripts, or small services.
Familiarity with TypeScript. You may need to modify or add new endpoints to our TypeScript APIs to support improving existing workflows or building new ones
A generalist mindset: you’re comfortable wearing multiple hats and context-switching when needed.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to cross-team work.
A bias for pragmatism and iteration. You can solve today’s problems without over-engineering for tomorrow.
