Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve the design system and design philosophy for the Awarded.AI platform, ensuring consistency and scalability across all user touchpoints.

  • Lead the organization's Figma practices, establishing best practices, design patterns, and implementation workflows that optimize collaboration between design and engineering teams.

  • Conduct comprehensive user research, including user interviews, usability testing, and behavioral analysis to inform design decisions and validate product hypotheses.

  • Design AI-native user experiences that make complex AI capabilities accessible and intuitive for users of varying technical backgrounds.

  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to translate user insights into compelling design solutions that drive business outcomes.

  • Drive continuous design innovation, leveraging AI-assisted design tools and methodologies to enhance productivity and design quality.

  • Establish and maintain design documentation, guidelines, and processes that enable the team to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences rapidly.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Extensive experience designing for SaaS environments at growth-stage companies, with a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.

  • Expertise in AI-assisted design workflows and familiarity with how AI technologies impact user experience design.

  • A strategic design thinker and hands-on practitioner who thrives in fast-paced startup environments and understands the balance between design excellence and speed to market.

  • Experience with government contracting environments and understanding of compliance requirements, procurement processes, and the unique user needs within federal and state agencies.

  • Passionate about innovation and AI, with a love for the "fail fast and iterate" methodology applied to design processes.

  • Driven to get designs validated quickly through user testing and leverage customer feedback to guide design decisions.

  • Strong collaborative and communication skills, eager to work cross-functionally in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Required Experience:

  • Proven expertise in Figma, including advanced features like design systems, component libraries, prototyping, and collaborative workflows.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user research capabilities, including qualitative and quantitative research methods, user journey mapping, and usability testing.

  • Experience designing for AI-powered products or platforms, with understanding of how to make complex AI capabilities accessible to users.

  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain comprehensive design systems that scale across multiple product areas.

  • A minimum of 5 years in UX design or related field, with a focus on SaaS platforms and B2B applications.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience designing mobile-responsive web applications and ensuring consistent user experiences across devices and platforms.

  • Familiarity with AI design tools and workflows, including experience with AI-assisted design processes and understanding of how AI impacts design decision-making.

  • Experience with design ops practices, including establishing design workflows, maintaining design system governance, and optimizing design-to-development handoffs.

  • Background in designing for data-heavy applications, dashboards, or analytics platforms.

  • Experience with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.

  • Knowledge of front-end development principles to better collaborate with engineering teams and understand implementation constraints.

Requirements:

• U.S. citizenship with the ability to pass a Federal Background Check and Identity Verification.

• While formal education is not a strict requirement, a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
