As our Tech Lead for the Payments Processing team, you’ll architect and own the core payment and ledger services that power our platform. You’ll set the technical direction, establish best practices for reliability and security, and mentor engineers to deliver robust, scalable solutions in a highly regulated environment.
What You’ll Bring
Deep Backend & Payments Expertise
7+ years in software development, with at least 3 in a technical leadership or architect role
Proven experience building and operating a ledger-based payment system (double-entry accounting, reconciliation, settlements)
Expert in Golang, microservices architectures, and API design; strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL or equivalent)
Familiarity with message queues/event buses (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and idempotent, event-driven workflows
Architecture & Standards Leadership
Track record defining and enforcing coding standards, service conventions, and CI/CD pipelines for backend services
Experience designing for high throughput, low latency and strict consistency guarantees
Deep understanding of security and compliance in payments (PCI-DSS, encryption at rest/in transit, audit trails)
Quality & Reliability Mindset
Solid experience with integration and end-to-end testing of payment flows
Expertise in observability: logging, metrics (Prometheus/Grafana), distributed tracing, and alerting
Demonstrated ability to drive service-level objectives (SLOs), error budgets and incident response processes
Technical Mentoring & Collaboration
Proven mentor and coach—able to upskill mid-level and junior engineers in best practices
Strong communicator, able to align cross-functional teams (Product, QA, Compliance, DevOps) on technical trade-offs
What You’ll Own
Payment & Ledger Architecture
Design, build and evolve our core payment processing and ledger engine, ensuring atomicity, consistency and auditability
Define service boundaries, event schemas and database schemas to support everything from authorization to settlement and reconciliation
Standards, Guidelines & Tooling
Establish and maintain backend coding standards, API conventions, release checklists and branching policies
Integrate security scans, compliance checks and performance budgets into CI pipelines
Technical Leadership & Reviews
Lead design and code reviews focused on reliability, scalability and security—be the expert on tricky finance edge cases
Mentor engineers through pairing sessions, design workshops and regular feedback loops
Cross-Functional Delivery
Partner with Product Managers and Compliance to translate regulatory and business requirements into robust services
Drive proof-of-concepts for new payment rails (e.g., instant payouts, multi-currency support) and share learnings across the organization
Metrics & Continuous Improvement
Define key service health metrics (transaction throughput, latency, error rates) and put monitoring/alerting in place
Own post-release performance reviews, blameless postmortems and iterative improvements to service reliability
