Description

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is modernizing clinical contact centers to provide Veterans with additional choices for meeting clinical, pharmacy, scheduling, and administrative needs. VA Health Connect provides Veterans and their caregivers immediate, 24/7, on-demand access to clinical and administrative services that address health care needs over the phone, video, and VA Health Chat.
The Training Specialist plays a key role in supporting project delivery by developing high-quality, web-based training content and supplemental materials for clinical, pharmacy, scheduling, virtual clinic visit, and administrative workflows. This individual will collaborate closely with a training lead and subject matter experts to design, develop, and deliver engaging e-learning modules using Articulate360, as well as create job aids, facilitation guides, and other follow-on training resources. The specialist will also demonstrate content mastery by hosting office hours, delivering train-the-trainer sessions, and providing direct support to end users and trainers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the training lead and subject matter experts to assess training needs and define learning objectives. 
• Design and develop interactive, web-based training modules using Articulate360, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, and aligned with adult learning principles. 
• Create clear, concise job aids, facilitation guides, and other supplemental training materials to reinforce learning and support end users. 
• Demonstrate a deep understanding of virtual clinic visit, clinical triage, and potentially more workflows and training content to effectively support learners. 
• Host live training sessions, including office hours and train-the-trainer events, to address questions, provide guidance, and ensure knowledge transfer. 
• Adapt technical and clinical information into user-friendly training content for a diverse audience, including non-technical staff. 
• Participate in content reviews, pilot sessions, and feedback cycles to continuously improve training materials. 
• Coordinate with project managers, implementation teams, and communications staff to ensure timely delivery and alignment of training resources. 
• Maintain version control and archives of all training materials and documentation. 
• Support virtual or in-person training sessions as needed, including facilitation or technical troubleshooting. 
• Ensure all training content complies with organizational policies, accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508), and client requirements. 
• Stay current with e-learning best practices and recommend improvements to training processes and tools.

Requirements

• Demonstrated proficiency with Articulate360 (Storyline, Rise) or similar e-learning authoring tools. 
• Experience creating job aids, facilitation guides, and other training support materials. 
• Ability to quickly learn and master new content, workflows, and systems. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex processes into clear, actionable training content. 
• Comfortable hosting live training sessions, office hours, and train-the-trainer events for diverse audiences. 
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including experience managing document version control. 
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to changing project needs and priorities.


Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering training in healthcare, telehealth, or virtual care settings. 
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) for digital learning content. 
• Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and content management platforms. 
• Experience facilitating virtual or in-person training sessions. 
• Certification in instructional design, e-learning development, or training (e.g., ATD, CPTD, CTT+) is a plus.
