This Vice President, Growth - Optum/UHC role will be the sales executive solely focused on net new business growth with UHG. With Virta’s outcomes and credibility and Optum/UHC’s brand and marketshare, this role is positioned to make a huge impact on Virta’s growth. This role requires an experienced and driven sales executive that has worked with Optum/UHC and understands how to navigate and progress revenue growth across each affiliate and line of business.

Responsibilities

As the VP, Growth - Optum/UHC for Virta you will be responsible for building relationships with and selling through net new business with our Optum/UHC partnership. This includes bottoms-up relationship building with account executives as well as top-down relationship building with C-suite. Net new revenue growth across ASO, fully insured, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and other lines of business and affiliates will be the focus of this role. You will have the opportunity to execute our commercialization efforts and capitalize on the national buy-in Virta is receiving for our industry-changing and life-improving work with diabetes reversal.

More specifically you will:

  • Manage and execute on the sales strategy for the Optum/UHC partnership

  • Champion Virta by continuing to enable and activate this large partner

  • Manage and progress pipeline opportunities for growth

  • Track and report on partner KPIs to demonstrate success

  • Foster bottoms-up and top-down relationships within the UHG universe and drive Virta awareness within their organization (promote Virta’s latest studies, accomplishments, news cycles)

  • Empower and enable our direct sales teams to sell Virta through this partner

  • Establish regular touchpoints with Optum/UHC leaders (i.e., virtual meetings, onsites, marketing events)

  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Virta on all things Optum/UHC.

  • Work closely with Virta’s marketing, partnership, sales, and customer success teams to provide feedback and expose growth and execution opportunities as it relates to Optum/UHC.

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Become an expert in presenting Virta and the Optum/UHC sales strategy

  • Collaborate on strategic plan with cross functional teams - Customer Success, Marketing, Sales

  • Begin executing the business plan for success by engaging with Optum/UHC leaders for growth

  • Focus on impact to revenue growth rate from Optum/UHC partnership

Must-Haves

  • 10+ years experience in healthcare or healthcare-related field

  • Significant understanding and experience either working at Optum or UHC in a growth role, or a wealth of experience of partnering and selling through Optum/UHC for ASO business and/or other lines of business.

  • Quantifiable history of meeting or exceeding sales targets or OKRs

  • Ability to present clearly to key decision makers

  • Consultative selling experience, including collaboration with an indirect sales team

  • Ability to proactively manage pipeline and willingness to leverage Salesforce in a strategic data-driven approach

  • Demonstrated collaboration with internal colleagues (marketing, product, ops, etc.) to support sales momentum

  • A passion for improving the health of millions of people with the ability to thrive in a mature startup environment

Nice-to-Haves

  • Knowledge of Type 2 diabetes and of potential competitors

  • Knowledge of weight loss vendors and dynamics of GLP-1 weight loss drugs

  • Knowledge of other health care point solutions beyond diabetes

  • Experience in marketing / sales-enablement

Virta has a location based compensation structure. Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. For this role, the compensation range is $195,000 - $227,413. Information about Virta’s benefits is on our Careers page at: https://www.virtahealth.com/careers.
