Job Summary
A Psychiatric Supervisor delivers exceptional patient care while providing collaborative clinical supervision across an interdisciplinary team. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape both direct treatment and clinical leadership within a growing, values-driven mental health practice.
Initially, the clinician will focus on acclimating to the Rivia Care Model, standards of practice, and work environment, while providing high-quality care to a weekly target of 50 patient appointments. Over a period of time, based on business needs and readiness, the scope of the role will expand to include dynamic supervisory and leadership responsibilities. This includes mentoring Nurse Practitioners (NPs), supporting physicians, and ensuring adherence to clinical and operational standards of excellence.
The ideal candidate brings a nuanced and aligned understanding of mental health care. Our philosophy of care is grounded in biological, psychological, and environmental considerations, and embraces both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy interventions to provide comprehensive mental health care.. Prior experience supervising psychiatric NPs or physicians in an integrated care model is beneficial, as is the ability to support performance through thoughtful, data-informed feedback and advisement.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibility Composition
70-75% - Direct clinical care with adherence to practice model
15-20% - Team oversight and Administrative Tasks: Conduct 1:1 meetings with NP supervisor, attend larger supervision meetings and lectures, provide ad-hoc support to supervisees, conduct 1:1 Team meetings with junior MD on the team if applicable, meeting with clinical leadership. Additional administrative duties include reviewing discharge summaries, cosigning notes, and signing prior authorizations
10% - Notes, collateral contact, and administrative work related to patient care
Responsibilities
Clinical
- Provide excellent quality clinical care on a consistent basis that exemplifies Rivia Mind’s culture, values, and guiding principles.
- Conduct comprehensive intake evaluations and develop curated patient-centered treatment plans
- Provide appropriate Psychotherapy practices that leverage various modalities (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, etc.) with proper Psychopharmacology prescribing practices
- Appropriately prescribe medication prescriptions & refills considering the best judgment of the patient's wellbeing
- Provides clinical support & counseling to diverse patient populations in a tele-health environment
- Curate comprehensive patient-centered treatment plans and provide resources as needed
- Provide clinical guidance and valued input to patients and peers
- Provide services to a diverse demographic of patients with an average patient standard of 42 patients seen per week (Caseload and weekly patient standard numbers may vary based on clinical judgment, patient needs, scheduling, etc.)
- Participate in and support routine and ad-hoc clinical-wide meetings and internal trainings to foster an engaging and continuous learning team environment
- Comply with clinical standards and adhere to timely and thorough session note documentation
- Engage with role-specific dashboards and clinical data to guide care delivery, maintain productivity and documentation standards, and proactively support patient engagement, follow-up, and retention in alignment with Rivia Mind’s integrated care model
- Utilize available data tools and dashboards to monitor productivity, documentation timeliness, and patient engagement expectations
- Ensure patients are scheduled for consistent follow-up care and respond to trends in appointment frequency and cancellations
- Participate in data-informed supervision to support ongoing professional development
- Partner with the Care Team to address emerging concerns, ensure follow-through, and uphold care standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to promote patient retention, integrative care coordination, and treatment continuity
- Proactively address scheduling or engagement issues based on dashboard insights and supervisory feedback
- Utilize data in dashboards to inform and assist with effective calendar management.
Supervisory
- Audit documentation and prescriptions of supervisees, providing medication management education and disciplinary action if necessary
- Be involved in the onboarding of new Psychiatrists to provide guidance, trainings, and complete required onboarding tasks
- Cosign notes of supervisees as required by insurers
- Keep up to date with all administrative and operations responsibilities related to patient care (notes, lost to follow-up tracking, policies regarding appointment cancellations, etc)
- Lead the team to provide excellent patient care. Provide training, mentorship, and constructive feedback as needed and when appropriate, and ensure a satisfactory work product is provided in a positive work environment for the team
- Hold weekly 1:1 with NP Supervisor to provide performance feedback, mentorship, and support
- Review any concerns related to clinical care delivered by NPs
- Review complex or high-risk cases
- Review patient complaints or escalations from Clinical Ops regarding clinician performance and coach NP Supervisor on delivering feedback
- Discuss NP Supervisors’ patient care and note how this is reflected in clinical dashboard
- Identify opportunities for support and coaching for NP Supervisors and their direct reports
- Utilize clinical dashboards and performance data to lead informed, supportive supervision in line with Rivia Mind’s integrated care model that strengthens clinician growth, promotes high-quality care, and ensures alignment with caseload, documentation, and engagement expectations
- Regularly review clinical and productivity data to guide supervision and identify early performance trends
- Facilitate regular, data-informed supervision that supports strengths, addresses challenges, and promotes clinician growth
- Coach team members on interpreting dashboards and applying insights to their clinical work to align with the Rivia Mind care model
- Monitor and support clinician efforts related to calendar and caseload management
- Hold 1:1 weekly meeting with any MD or DO on the team to provide performance feedback, mentorship, and support (NP supervisor does not provide direct supervision for these clinicians)
- Review any concerns related to clinical care
- Review complex or high-risk cases
- Review patient complaints or escalations from Clinical Ops
- Discuss patient care and compliance with the clinical dashboards
- Identify opportunities for support and coaching
- Be familiar with all policies and procedures related to patient care and hold the team accountable for adherence.
- The NP Supervisor will have primary day-to-day responsibility for the team, but this role has ultimate accountability for the team.
- In addition, this role is responsible for performance and adherence for direct reports, including the NP Supervisor and any MD or DO on the team.
- Support the NP Supervisor to ensure adherence to employee policies regarding PTO and calendar management. Ensure the NP Supervisor effectively follows procedures and provides feedback regarding compliance as needed. Be the representative of your direct reports and support your NP Supervisors as needed to Communicate with People Ops for any team member needs (e.g., Long-Term Leave, Bereavement, Performance Reviews).
- As needed, review & determine transfer patient requests, adhere to any disciplinary action procedures, review & approve timesheets (if applicable) and time off requests to ensure accuracy and proper coverage to maintain business and function needs
- Act as point of contact for escalations from the for Clinical Ops team/NP supervisor for issues related to productivity or clinical administrative responsibilities (eg late notes)
- Provide ad-hoc support to NPs on the team via email or brief meetings, with special attention to high-risk cases, looping in NP Supervisor for further support
- Meet once a month with SW supervision group to create relationships for ease of future escalations and support. Identify special topics or educational opportunities for SW group
Leadership
- Co-host weekly team meetings together with team NP Supervisor
- Act as an active participant in supporting Rivia Mind culture initiatives
- Share company announcements with the team
- Provide engaging, collaborative, and supportive environment for review of cases and clinical questions
- Attend weekly Rivia Wide meeting and participate actively as appropriate
- Hold 1:1 “skip” meetings with each NP on the team every other month
- Meet weekly 1:1 with Medical Director
- Hold a weekly drop-in open-office hour timeslot to provide clinical supervision and feedback to our interdisciplinary team and accommodate 1:1 meetings as necessary for further support to our clinicians
- Stay current on advancements in psychiatric care and disseminate learnings to the team to promote a culture of clinical excellence
- Oversee and respond to high-risk cases, including suicide risk assessments, medication complications, or complex diagnostic presentations
- Review patient discharges, evaluate and determine patient appropriateness for Rivia Mind

Operations
- Perform administrative duties, including reviewing hospital discharge summaries, signing prior authorizations, and cosigning notes
- Provide ad-hoc support to Medical Director for additional projects
- Perform other related role and team function duties as assigned by department and group leaders
Qualifications
Required Education Level: Doctorate Degree
Education Details:
- Earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited school
- Completed a Psychiatry residency program, completing diverse rotations including Primary Care within the training program
- Additional residencies appreciated are: Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics-gynecology
- Completed a fellowship in Adult Psychiatry
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Active and in good standing license for at least one of these states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, or Massachusetts as a Medical Doctor
- New York and New Jersey Licensure Preferred
- Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine and DEA number for at least one of the states listed above
- Board certified in General Psychiatry
Additional Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- Minimum of 4 years post-residency clinical experience, or at least 1 year post-residency experience at Rivia Mind
- Confidently and efficiently document concurrently within patient sessions
- Proven experience and desire to support Psychotherapy treatment
- Psychotherapy Modality experience (CBT, DBT, etc.)
- Prescribes Medications
- Experience working with Patients in an Outpatient setting
- Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills
- Telehealth/telemedicine experience
- Patient Education
- Diagnosis and Treatment Planning
- Experience with providing supervision to other clinical staff
- Proficient with utilizing diverse technology platforms and systems (Google Suite, company wide platforms/software and EHR platforms when applicable)

Base Pay Range: $250,000 - $300,000

Work Schedule:
We collaborate with each provider to determine a mutually beneficial and sustainable schedule. Our focus is to develop a supportive schedule that meets both the needs of our patients and the providers' preferences.
We are flexible with desired start and end times, but the ideal schedule must include some evening hours.
