Role Summary
We are seeking a strategic Senior Director of Global Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success Finance to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical, financial, and strategic planning skills, as well as a deep understanding of sales, customer success and marketing operations andKPIs.
The Sophos Senior Director, GTM Finance will serve as the primary business partner and key strategic advisor for the GTM executives, CRO, CMO, CCO and their leadership teams. This position will report to SVP of FP&A and will manage a team of GTM finance professionals.
What You Will Do
- GTM Financial Planning, Performance & ROI Analytics
- Develop and maintain financial models to support budget planning, investment decisions, and long-range planning for Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success.
- Evaluate ROI for key GTM initiatives—including sales capacity, lead generation, customer success initiatives, and incentive plans—linking spend to measurable outcomes such as pipeline growth, bookings, GRR/NRR, and customer expansion.
- Partner closely with Sales Operations and Sales Channel teams to analyze the financial impact of rebate programs, co-marketing spend, and partner-driven revenue.
- Define and track KPIs across GTM functions at both global and regional levels, identifying performance trends, uncovering areas of under- or over-performance, and recommending actions to maximize ROI.
- Present insights and performance metrics to functional and finance leadership, supporting continuous improvement, strategic alignment, and execution excellence.
- Planning, Forecasting & Reporting
- Lead the annual operating planning process for Global Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success, ensuring alignment with company objectives and financial targets.
- Manage quarterly forecasting and monthly close processes, including headcount and non-headcount spend, with detailed variance analysis and commentary.
- Collaborate with business partners to update assumptions, adjust forecasts, and provide proactive recommendations for budget optimization.
- Deliver timely, executive-ready reporting packages including month-end flash reports, Board of Directors materials, and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) decks, with insights that inform strategic decisions.
- Spend & Headcount Management
- Own end-to-end planning and management of GTM operating expenses and headcount, ensuring alignment with spend budget and growth initiatives.
- Partner with Sales, CS, and Marketing leaders to align financial plans with business priorities, balancing investment needs with efficiency goals.
- Track hiring plans and workforce changes, provide strategic guidance on resource allocation, and identify risks or opportunities.
- Business Partnering, Process & Systems
- Serve as a trusted finance partner to GTM executives, delivering strategic insights, decision-support, and financial guidance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with the BI team, HR, Accounting, and other FP&A teams to ensure data accuracy, process alignment, and financial integrity.
- Drive the operational rhythm of the business by supporting weekly and monthly business reviews, planning meetings, and strategic discussions.
- Lead initiatives to streamline and improve financial planning, reporting, and forecasting processes using best-in-class systems and tools (e.g., Workday-Adaptive, Anaplan, Power BI, etc.).
- Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing GTM Finance team, driving accountability, and promoting a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and results-driven execution.
What You Will Bring
- 10+ years of relevant work experience in GTM Finance and/or Strategic Planning ideally for a PE-backed SaaS and SMB-focused organization
- Must have expertise in financial modeling and advanced data analysis
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge (e.g., Anaplan, Workday Adaptive, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to synthesize detailed information into succinct and actionable recommendations in presentations for our senior executives
- Deep understanding of GTM strategies and key drivers of sales and marketing ROI.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business units to achieve results and create organizational alignment
- Strong business understanding, allowing you to help develop and quantify strategies and tactics that drive incremental growth
- Self-motivated, deliverable-focused, strong work ethic, enthusiastic and ambitious attitude, able to prioritize and resolve an array of issues simultaneously
In the United States, the base salary for this role ranges from $184,000 to $306,000. In addition to base salary, we offer additional compensation including bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
