A single percent of improvement drives profound change to every corner of the world—from the cost of our goods, to the livelihoods of local communities, to even the impact on our environment. To reshape the industry, at TruckSmarter, our focus is first on truck drivers. Trucks move 71% of freight in America (~$800bn annually) & the trucking industry represents nearly 6% of the full-time jobs in the country. If you look around you, every item has sat on a truck at one point on its journey to you. However, despite the industry being one of the greatest levers of innovation throughout history, it is still deeply fragmented & structurally misaligned. The Role
As a Technical Recruiter at TruckSmarter, you'll shape our organization's future by attracting top-tier technical talent. Your impact will extend across the company as you build and refine our hiring engine, bringing in ambitious, capable, diverse, and mission-driven individuals who align with our values and growth ambitions. You'll collaborate with teams, guide hiring managers, and provide strategic leadership to meet our ambitious hiring goals. You'll also shape and evolve our hiring philosophy to ensure it remains innovative, effective, and aligned with our employer brand—delivering an exceptional experience for every candidate.
As the second member of the recruiting organization, you'll primarily focus on Engineering and Product roles, but will likely support hiring across other departments including Design, Operations, Go-To-Market, and Carrier Success.
Working model: TruckSmarter offers an in-office collaborative culture. This role is based out of our downtown San Francisco office, and requires in-office presence three days per week (typically Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays).
What Excites You
Developing a deep understanding of new industries, businesses, and company cultures to deliver strategic recruitment support across teams.
Manage the full recruitment lifecycle—from sourcing to coordination of interviews to offer and close—ensuring a seamless and inclusive experience for both candidates and stakeholders.
Collaborate with hiring managers to craft job descriptions, define candidate requirements, and develop structured interview processes.
Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring teams by providing insights, best practices, and data-driven recommendations to improve hiring outcomes.
Build and maintain executive relationships while delivering proactive hiring solutions that align with business goals.
Create and execute sourcing strategies for passive talent pipelines in product and engineering domains.
Coach hiring teams on best practices for interviewing, candidate assessment, and decision-making.
Design, implement, and refine recruitment programs to enhance efficiency, scalability, and candidate experience.
What Excites Us
4+ years of full-cycle technical recruiting experience, focusing on Engineering and Product roles in fast-growing startups.
Proven ability to manage the complete candidate lifecycle, from initial sourcing through scheduling, offer negotiation, and successful closing.
Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to use recruiting metrics to drive hiring strategies.
Track record of solving complex hiring challenges and effectively coaching hiring teams.
Experience managing critical roles while maintaining excellent organizational skills and stakeholder relationships.
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
Expert negotiation skills backed by deep knowledge of the tech talent market.
Proven ability to excel in fast-paced environments while juggling multiple priorities.
Demonstrated success building lasting, trust-based relationships with candidates.
Proficiency with modern recruiting tools, including AI-powered platforms and applicant tracking systems (we use Ashby).
