In this role you will advance semiconductor technology at Natcast's CHIPS for America R&D Flagship Facility, developing novel materials and device architectures that transform next-generation electronics.

At Natcast’s new facilities and partner facilities, you'll collaborate with leading researchers to develop breakthrough semiconductor solutions for power-performance-area (PPA) optimization in advanced CMOS technology
Key Responsibilities
Materials Development and Characterization:
• Lead and coordinate research into 2D materials synthesis for transistor channel applications
• Generate DOEs for 2D materials properties screening and optimization
• Perform 2D materials characterization, optimize characterization techniques, aggregate, analyze and report characterization data
Device Design and Engineering:
• Design and prototype innovative device architectures, enabling scaling beyond CFET
• Develop test structures and programs for device parameters optimization
• Characterize, analyze and optimize device parameters including reliability
Process Integration and Fabrication:
• Generate short-loop and full integration flows for the evaluation of 2D channel materials and associated integration modules: source/drain, contacts, gate
• Guide and perform device fabrication processes, including lithography, in cleanroom environments to produce and test prototype devices
• Explore scaling methodologies for 2D channel materials for advanced CMOS prototyping
Leadership and Collaboration:
• Direct experimental programs, including exploratory research and validation of material and device properties.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, academic and industrial partners to ensure integration into advanced CMOS architectures and technology nodes
• Mentor junior researchers and technologists, fostering an environment of innovation, learning, and collaboration.
Knowledge Dissemination:
• Author and publish technical papers and patents, contributing to Natcast's intellectual property portfolio and establishing leadership in 2D materials for advanced CMOS nodes
• Present findings and breakthroughs at industry-leading conferences, seminars, and internal innovation forums.
Required Skills and Experience
• Masters or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on semiconductor materials and, in particular, 2D materials and devices
• 8+ years of experience in advanced CMOS device characterization and integration
• Knowledge and understanding of 2D material synthesis, characterization and integration
• Strong background in CMOS device physics, electrical testing and characterization(including reliability), and data analysis
• Demonstrated high proficiency in DOE and data mining and analysis
• Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and contributions to research and development projects.
• Experience leading research projects and teams with exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills
Bonus Qualifications
• Hands-on industry experience in advanced CMOS technology nodes (gate-all-around nano-ribbons preferred) R&D or manufacturing.
• Established patent portfolio demonstrating innovation in semiconductor devices or materials.
• Cleanroom experience, including process and characterization optimization and equipment knowledge and understanding
